Field Missionary, Rev. John T. Gillison and wife, arrived in Dallas. On January 8th (Sunday) a Lutheran service was conducted by Rev and Mrs. Gillison in a small hall at the Y.M.C.A Building. There were 35 persons present. |

Rev. & Mrs. Gillison left Dallas, to return to Houston. A full report of this visit was later prepared and forwarded to rev. A.D.R. Hancher, DD, Richmond, Va., Southern District Supt. of Missions of the Board of Home Missions and Church Extension of the United Lutheran Church in America. |

Acting under instructions from Supt. Dr. Hancher, Field Missionary Gillison made another visit to Dallas. Securing the use of the German Methodist Church at San Jacento & Washington Sts., Rev. & Mrs. Gillison conducted the full Lutheran service, beginning at 2 p.m. pastor Gillison baptized three children... The sacrament of the Holy Communion was administered, seven Lutheran persons receiving the Sacrament. |

Rev. John T. Gillison returned to Dallas for residence and for the organization of a Lutheran Church. The first regular service was held at 11 O'clock. There were fourteen (14) persons present. The Field Missionary conducted Sunday morning services from this date, in a Sunday school room kindly loaned by the First Baptist Church. A Church membership book was opened, and a book for recording the proceedings of the Congregational Meetings. Regular monthly reports of the work done toward organizing were made to the Board by the Field Missionary. |

The Church was formally organized, and U.L.C. model constitution adoped: April 29th, 1923. The Church was incorporated May 7th, 1923 as "The First United Lutheran Church of Dallas, Texas". Agreements signed by Church Corporation with Methodist Trustees, to purchase the Church property at 4501 Cole Avenue for $5,750.00, and the first payment of $50.00 was made and receipted for. The final settlement was made through Dallas Trust and Savings Bank on June 23rd, 1923. Board of Home Missions and Church Extension loaned $3,000.00 for which they received a second mortgage. A first mortgage of $2,700.00 was executed and paid to the Methodist Church, and Title conveyed. |
